摘要
The theoretical approach presented in Part I is used to study the behavior of two carboxylic acids at the water-air interface in the case of low surface concentrations. Propanoic acid forms an adsorbed layer while pentadecanoic acid gives rise to a spread layer. The second virial coefficient obtained from experimental results is compared to a theoretical calculation. By an analysis in which the model for the interaction between the ampbiphile molecules in the presence of water is improved step by step we may determine the predominant interactions for each system. The role of the solvent is emphasized. A comparison with a more traditional approach is presented. (C) 1994 Academic Press, Inc.
