摘要
The dielectric function (DF) for this prototype of the layered dichalcogenides has been determined on the basis of two different procedures. The first uses an ab initio method, the extended linearized augmented plane wave (LAPW) scheme, to calculate the microscopic DF, ε(0,0;ω). The second relies on an empirical tight-binding fit to yield the ε(q+G,q+G';ω), and the macroscopic DF via the inverse dielectric matrix. The former is especially suited for discussing the optical spectra whereas the latter accounts for the local-field effects near the plasma frequency. The results are compared with experimental reflectivity and ellipsometric data. © 1995 The American Physical Society.
