摘要
Vertex event-related potentials (ERPs) were obtained from undergraduates performing an inspection time task together with measures of inspection time (n = 35) and mental ability (Alice Heim 5 test, n = 28). Techniques are presented which reveal changes over time in the relationship between ERP measures and psychometric indices. A zone of the ERP, 100 to 200 ms after stimulus onset, contained high correlations (up to 0.64) between ERP measures and both intelligence and IT. Reliability of ERP measures varied with time and was high over this critical part of the ERP. Earlier work is reviewed that indicates that individual differences in this zone of the ERP are related to intelligence. The nature of the processing occurring within this critical latency range is discussed.
