SOME PROBLEMS OF COUPLING LOSS CALCULATIONS IN SUPERCONDUCTING CABLES

Using the general solution of Laplace equation, all contributions to coupling losses in single-layered flat and round cables eighter with or without central insulating layer, were calculated. By comparing the total losses for different cases, we conclude that for decreasing the coupling losses in flat cables it is necessary to include an insulating layer into the core, whereas this is of little help for the round cable. In the latter case, the increase of the core resistance (and, of course, the increase of the transition resistance between the strands and the core) is much more effective for decreasing the coupling losses.
