MISCIBILITY AND FRACTURE-BEHAVIOR OF AN EPOXY-RESIN BISPHENOL-A POLYCARBONATE BLEND

摘要
Samples of neat epoxy resins based on Epikote 828 cured with diethylenetriamine and blends containing 10 wt % of a polycarbonate were prepared at 20-degrees, 40-degrees and 70-degrees. The critical stress intensity factor (K1c) and critical strain energy release rate (G1c), the morphology and glass transition temperatures (T(g)) were examined by a three-point bending test, scanning and transmission electron microscopy and by dynamic mechanical analysis, respectively. The results show that the blend is miscible and that K1c and G1c increase somewhat on the addition of the polycarbonate.
