摘要
Protonic conduction in pellets fabricated from 12-tungstophosphoric acid hexahydrate (H3PW12O40.6H2O) has been examined in the temperature range ambient-550-degrees-C using ac (impedance) techniques. Transformations involving dehydration (to the anhydride H3PW12O40) and phase segregation (giving P2O5 and WO3 with further loss of H2O) are evident in thermogravimetry and in conductivity studies. Conduction in the dehydrated pellet is via particle surfaces: equilibration of the highly hygroscopic surface (of the anhydride) with the cell atmosphere is slow but gives conductivity enhancement on ''soaking'' at a fixed temperature above 200-degrees-C.
