摘要
A two-dimensional Ginzburg-Landau amplitude equation for the 3D wake of a circular cylinder is derived. This equation, which accounts for the rotational symmetry breaking of the flow, allows us to perform a first analytical study of the secondary instabilities of the 2D wake patterns. The results are applied toward the stability of oblique and (chevrons) patterns. A global overview of the origin, the dynamics, and the stability of oblique shedding patterns is finally given and compared to experimental data.
