摘要
The assumption that the increase in mass of a polymer, either through gas sorption or entrained mass, is proportional to the inverse of the resonant frequency of a slender elastic cantilever with the absorbing polymer attached at its free end is shown to provide a solid basis for the technique for measuring gas sorption described by B. J. Briscoe and H. Mahgerefteh. The computed mass sorption and density change based on this assumption are shown to be consistent with the established theory of vibrating structures.
