COLORIMETRIC CHARACTERIZATION OF MAGARAI QS LABEL FOR MEASUREMENT OF UV-RADIATION

摘要
Magarai QS, which is essentially a gamma-irradiation-detecting label, has been successfully used for measuring integrated UV irradiance. It was observed that, upon exposure to UV irradiation, this label changed colour from yellow to violet. A correlation was established between UV absorbed energy and colour scale L*, a*, b* (a* green-red axis). The data were analysed to determine the reproducibility of the a* colour values measured from labels exposed to different UV irradiances. Effects of time, temperature, light and dose rate on the response of the label are discussed.
