TEMPERATURE QUENCHING OF EXCITONS IN RESONANT ELASTIC LIGHT-SCATTERING FROM ROUGH SURFACES OF CRYSTALS

摘要
The temperature dependent resonant spectra of elastic light scattering from rough surfaces of CdS crystals were studied in the vicinity of the A(n=1) exciton state. Good agreement is obtained between the measured spectra and the results of a theory of diffuse light reflection, which takes account of both exciton spatial dispersion and exciton-free ''dead'' layer effects. The statistical parameters of surface roughness and the temperature dependence of the exciton damping parameter are presented.
