LABORATORY DETECTION OF HC9N USING A FOURIER-TRANSFORM MICROWAVE SPECTROMETER

摘要
The laboratory microwave spectrum of a linear carbon chain molecule, HC9N (cyano-octatetra-yne), has been observed for the first time by discharging a mixture of vinylcyanide and acetylene diluted in argon. The absorption spectrum was observed in a supersonic beam, using a pulsed-nozzle Fabry-Perot-type Fourier transform microwave spectrometer. Frequencies of 11 rotational transitions have been combined with the previously reported astronomical data, yielding accurate ground state parameters, B0 = 290.518322(57) MHz and D0 = 0.874(78) Hz.
