摘要
It was found that a carbide (Al4C3) produced during the synthetic preparation of YAP raw materials may be the main reason for the induced formation of Tyndall light scattering centers in the crystals. Using an appropriate superheating pretreatment of the YAP melts in a nitrogen atmosphere containing a little oxygen, large size YAP crystals without light scattering centers can be grown from the pretreated melts.
