OXYGEN K-EDGE XANES OF CRYSTALLINE AND AMORPHOUS ICE

摘要
The oxygen K-edge absorption spectra of crystalline ice Ic and amorphous ice have been measured using monochromatized synchrotron radiation. The differences in the local structure between the crystalline and amorphous phases are clearly reflected in their near edge features. For ice Ic, a surprisingly good correlation was found between the interatomic OH and OO distances with the positions of the post edge absorption peaks employing the multiple scattering model of Bianconi and Natoli. This finding suggests that the scattering from the hydrogen atom may be stronger than previously anticipated. The profiles of the absorption spectra are very similar to that observed in the analogous trigonal and amorphous phases of GeO2. © 1990.
