ANGULAR-DEPENDENCE OF THICK-TARGET BREMSSTRAHLUNG

Bremsstrahlung transmission spectra are obtained at 45-degrees and 90-degrees scattering angles for thick targets of various atomic numbers for an incident-electron energy of about 70 keV. The bremsstrahlung photon transmitted through the target is collimated and detected by an HPGe detector. Comparisons are made with two theoretical models for the yields which take into account electron energy loss, electron backscattering and photon attenuation. The first model is isotropic and is based on the Kramers equation while the second model includes the angular distribution of the emitted photons by integrating tabulated bremsstrahlung cross sections over the target thickness.
