摘要
The development and production of fresh water by reverse osmosis from the Arabian Gulf requires several considerations. Apart from those such as minimizing energy consumption, improved membrane performance, increased recovery and salt rejection, and increased chlorine resistance, materials selection and corrosion resistance make a significant contribution to the reduction in the product water cost. The state of the art for selection of appropriate corrosion resistance alloys for a specific environment is not sufficiently advanced to make the choices for a specific environment obvious. It still remains necessary to perform laboratory and plant testing of candidate alloys to establish those alloys that may be suitable for use in a specific plant environment. Results of laboratory and plant testing of a number of candidate construction materials for the various components and pipings are described.
