The predicted height of the tide at the time of the Landsat pass was 1.6m above Lowest Astronomical Tide. The bottom composition of the areas surrounding the island and between the island and the mainland consist of sand, shells and mud. In the image the white parts of the water area are the shallow parts with depths up to about 15m while the darker parts are the deeper waters. The maximum depth covered by this image is about 38m. Secchi clarity has been estimated as up to about 20 m in these waters. From the least-squares fit the intensity ranges for various depth ranges were obtained to enable density slicing to be carried out.
