SYNTHESIS OF PARASEXIPHENYL BY COUPLING OF MONOBROMOTERPHENYL - OPTIMIZATION AND MATERIAL CHARACTERIZATION

摘要
The coupling reaction of monobromoterphenyl (phi3 Br) in the presence of zero valent Nickel Ni(o) complex is an attractive and straightforward way to synthesize para(sexiphenyl) (phi6). The aim of this paper is to demonstrate that this reaction may be optimized by the ajustment of some experimental parameters. Though it is possible to generate Ni(o) first before the addition of phi3 Br, the best way in terms of yield and to avoid debromination of the monomer consists in adding the starting products at once in that way the reaction may be catalytic with constant regeneration of Ni(o) in the course of the electrosynthesis, leading to high yield of pure phi6.
