SUPERCONDUCTIVITY IN GA-BASED-1212 CUPRATES

The superconductivity in Ga-based cuprates of the "1212" structure was investigated. Ceramic samples of the nominal compositions of (Ga1-yCuy)Sr2(Y1-xCax)Cu2O7 with (x, y) = (0.0-0.6, 0.0-0.2) were prepared by using an O2-HIP (hot isostatic pressing) technique. In the case of samples with y = 0.0, the solubility of Ca, x, was found to be up to about 0.4. The sample with x = 0.4 showed superconductivity of T(c)(Meissner) = 40 K. For the sample with x = 0.4, partial substitution of Cu for Ga induced superconductivity of T(c)(Meissner) = 50 K. The obtained results suggested that the Ga-"1212" and (Ga/Cu)-"1212" phases were respectively a 40 K-class and a 50 K-class superconductor.
