摘要
The possibility of obtaining finer euutectics even from off-eutectic alloy compositions without the presence of the primary phase is of vital significance, especially in the production of composites for high-strength and high-temperature applications. This letter reports on such structural achievements in a ternary Pb-Sb-Sn near eutectic alloy utilizing the Misra technique. The influence of an electric potential during solidification upon the structural modification of Pb-Sb-Sn near eutectic alloy has been studied. It was observed that with the application of potential the primary phase solidification was completely avoided and the resulting eutectic structure was extremely finer in contrast to that of normally furnace cooled eutectics.
