摘要：

Emin and Hart [Phys. Rev. B 36, 7353 (1987)] have stated that, for an electron in a one-dimensional lattice and uniform electric field, Bloch states from different field-dependent energy bands are not coupled by the steplike component of the electric scalar potential. In this Comment, reasons to question this conclusion are discussed.
