摘要
Quantitative reliability assessment is now employed by most major process engineering companies for the evaluation of competing plant designs and operating scenarios. Uncertainties in the results of the assessment arise from 2 main sources: 1. uncertainties in the reliability model; 2. uncertainties in the reliability data. It is often the latter which causes most concern. In recent times a number of projects have been initiated to collect and analyse historical data from specific areas of industry. Although such industry-specific data are a significant improvement on global statistics there are still problems. This paper discusses some of these problems from experience over the past eight years in collecting and analysing reliability data from industrial and offshore maintenance systems.
