Isothermal equilibrium vapor and liquid composition measurements have been made for the heptane-butyl acetate system at 74.7° and 100° C. using equilibrium samples produced with the aid of a vapor recirculation-type equilibrium still. Vaporization equilibrium constants (K-values) were calculated from the equilibrium compositions and the thermodynamic consistency checked by the method of Redlich and Kister. Composition-liquid specific volume data were obtained for the binary system at 20°C. Vapor pressure-temperature measurements were made for pure butyl acetate between 20.5° C. (13.3 mm. of Hg) end 124.6° C.(730.5 mm. of Hg) and fitted to an Antoine equation:[formula omitted] with an average absolute deviation of 3.5 mm. of Hg and a maximum deviation of 9.1 mm. of Hg. © 1969, American Chemical Society.
