摘要
The preparation of polycrystalline hydronium beta double prime alumina by ion exchange of mixed alkali ion compositions is described. It is shown that the mixed alkali ion effect has a profound effect on the kinetics of the process. Examination of Na/K beta / beta double prime Al//2O//3 samples at various stages of H//3O** plus exchange shows that the alkali ion concentration varies in a complex manner. Examination of 'fully' exchanged samples indicates a residual potassium ion concentration which is consistent with potassium ions being locked in the beta phase as predicted by the mixed alkali percolation theory.
