A SIMPLE ARTIFICIAL-LIGHT SYSTEM FOR SOLAR SIMULATED IRRADIATION OF POLYMERIC MATERIALS

摘要
A simple, inexpensive device for artificial simulation of sunlight is described. The illumination system is composed of a 275-W sunlamp and a 500-W mercury discharge/tungsten filament industrial lamp. The device has a fan for cooling and a motorized turntable for uniform sample irradiation. Calibration of the intensity in the 300-400-nm region of the ultraviolet by three actinometric systems showed that a 13-h exposure in the simulator was comparable to a 1-day exposure to Toronto summer sunshine.
