摘要
We study the dynamics of a string of coupled bistable oscillators. Due to the discrete space variable, inhomogeneous states persist forever in a codimension 0 set of parameters at low coupling. At higher coupling the interface separating two different regions of the string may propagate. We derive an analytical expression for the mean speed of propagation in the weakly nonlinear low coupling regime. The strong coupling regime is investigated numerically, the results being compared to those of a qualitative analysis. It turns out in particular that the front's propagation speed is a discontinuous function of the coupling parameter, owing to a kind of frequency locking phenomenon. © 1990.
