GEOCHEMICAL-EXPLORATION IN THE JILOVE BELT - CASE-HISTORY OF THE CELINA DEPOSIT, BOHEMIAN MASSIF, CZECHOSLOVAKIA

Regional geochemical prospecting (soils and heavy-mineral concentrates) of the Upper Proterozoic volcano-sedimentary Jílové Belt detected areas with anomalous Au and base-metal concentrations. In the most promising area for gold, the Čelina-Mokrsko gold district, detailed soil sampling was performed. This survey located heretofore unknown gold-bearing ore zones. At the Čelina deposit, lithogeochemical data on the distribution of trace elements allowed their classification into three groups: 1. (1) elements related to Au mineralization: Au, As, Bi, Mo, W; 2. (2) elements related to lithology: Co, Cu, Ni, Zn, sometimes W; 3. (3) elements related to post-Au tectonics: B, Sb, sometimes As. The marked decrease in the concentration coefficients of Au and its pathfinders downwards indicates that the occurrence of Au mineralization at depth in the Jílové Belt is unlikely. © 1990.
