By combining various experimental techniques, we investigated the electrodynamic response of the anisotropic metallic (TMTSF)2PF6 in a broad spectral range. We discuss the normal state properties in terms of a single Drude together with a harmonic-oscillator contribution. We show that from 300 K to 20 K the scattering rate follows the temperature dependence of the d.c. resistivity and we find no evidence for a narrow resonance implied by optical studies on this and on other linear-chain conductors.
