摘要
Scanning Tunneling Microscopy has been used to study polycrystalline aluminum in sodium hydroxide solution. The effect of oxidation and reduction processes on the electrode surface has been studied in-situ. The initiation of oxide formation appears to start in the form of patches or clusters. In the study of the oxide formation by STM, a passive to active region was detected at -1.05 V vs. SHE in 0.01 M NaOH.
