LIPASE-CATALYZED ETHANOLYSIS AND ISOPROPANOLYSIS OF TRIGLYCERIDES WITH LONG-CHAIN FATTY-ACIDS

摘要
A celite-immobilized Pseudomonas lipase was used to catalyse the alcoholysis of triglycerides with long-chain fatty acids in ethanol and isopropanol to yield the respective esters at room temperature. The initial rate of alcoholysis for tripalmitin in isopropanol was faster than that in ethanol, whereas the opposite was observed for triolein. The final conversion of triglyceride obtained from isopropanolysis was higher than that obtained from ethanolysis. The celite-immobilized lipase appeared to be more stable in the reaction mixture of isopropanolysis as compared to that of ethanolysis. The lipasecatalysed alcoholytic reaction is potentially useful in the production of esters of specific interest.
