摘要
Because of the high levels of radiation that will exist in the detector areas of the SSC it is important to understand how radiation effects calorimetry liquids. The results for tetramethylsilane, tetramethyl-germanium, tetramethylpentane as well as methane-argon solutions are discussed. Tests have shown significant pressure buildup due to H2 and CH4. Also there is a loss of efficiency of charge collection at large radiation doses. In addition radiation products can change the drift velocity of electrons and the free ion yield.
