DETERMINATION OF THE TRANSDUCTION MECHANISM FOR OPTICAL SENSORS BASED ON RHODAMINE 6G IMPREGNATED PERFLUOROSULFONATE FILMS USING STEADY-STATE AND FREQUENCY-DOMAIN FLUORESCENCE

摘要
Multifrequency phase-modulation fluorescence spectroscopy is used to investigate the dynamics of thin Nafion films impregnated with rhodamine 6G (R6G). Using this approach, we explore the photophysics of these films as a function of R6G concentration, water content, Cu(II) quencher concentration, and film preparation procedure. From this, we infer how these films function as chemical recognition elements in fiber-optic-based sensors. The decay kinetics for all films studied are best described by a simple bioexponential decay law, a result of ground-state dimer formation.
