摘要
Saturation of near-infrared absorption in Mg2SiO4:Cr is observed, and the absorption cross section at 1.08-mu-m is estimated to be sigma(a) = (2.3 +/- 0.3) X 10(-18) cm2. Q switching and passive mode locking of a Nd:YAG laser have been realized with a Mg2SiO4:Cr saturable absorber.
