摘要
Performance of the Virginia Integrated Solar Test Arrays is reported and analyzed. The test period reported here spans from January 1987 to December 1988. The objective is to examine how single crystal and polycrystalline modules perform under diverse sky conditions over time while single-axis, two-axis tracking and fixed tilt arrays are used. Even though the photovoltaic modules performed as expected, the overall outage rates for the two years have ranged from 31.3% to 51.7% for the three subfields. Causes of these outages include PCU trips due to ground fault currents, and failures of the insolation recorders, the data acquisition system, the trackers and the modules. Between 1987 and 1988, the annual average array efficiency for the polycrystalline modules have ranged from 7.57% to 8.00% for tracking arrays, and from 7.94% to 8.37% for fixed tilt arrays. The same for the fixed-tilt single crystal modules have ranged from 9.13% to 8.83%. During the same period the average monthly capability factor for the two-axis tracking polycrystalline subfield A has ranged from 58.3% to 55.0%. The same parameter for the fixed tilt polycrystalline subfield B has ranged from 49.7% to 47.0%, and for the single crystal subfield C the change was from 43.7% to 43.3%. These observations suggest that there has not been any significant deterioration of the module performance over this period. © 1990 IEEE
