摘要
Sheep were grazed for a few days 3 times each summer in a Sitka spruce plantation from the 6th to the 11th yr after planting. Grazing significantly reduced tree growth. Browsing damage was negligible; damage to the tree roots by poaching is thought to be the more likely cause of the reduced growth. The plantation provided a useful amount of low-grade forage until canopy closure. Both tree growth and forage yield were increased by an NPK fertilizer.
