X-RAY CHARACTERIZATION OF BI-PB-SR-CA-CU-O CERAMIC

Three superconducting phases with the lattice parameters: a=0.5404 nm, b=0.5390 nm, c=3.7407 nm and a=0.5388 nm, b=0.5368 nm, c=30.71 nm as well as a=0.5436, b=0.5399 and c=3.522 nm were found in a Bi1.6Pb 0.4Sr2Ca2Cu3Ox superconducting ceramic (Tc onset=108 K). A superstructure of the first phase of the (l*a, b, c) type, where l approximately=5, was revealed. Electron probe microanalysis with a wavelength dispersive system gave the Bi1.58Pb0.42Sr2.66Ca1.63Cu 2.25Onu composition for some small regions of this ceramic. The superconducting character of these regions was confirmed by X-ray emission spectroscopy. Regions rich in CuO and CaO were also measured.
