INFLUENCE OF RICE STRAW AMENDMENT ON PERSISTENCE AND ALGAL TOXICITY OF P-NITROPHENOL IN SOIL

摘要
A laboratory investigation was made of the persistence of p-nitrophenol (PNP) with or without rice straw amendment to soil under non-flooded and flooded conditions. PNP disappeared more rapidly in flooded soil than in non-flooded soil. Addition of rice straw increased the persistence of PNP in soil under flooded conditions. The toxicity of PNP towards indigenous populations of microalgae and cyanobacteria was related to its persistence in soil.
