3-DIMENSIONAL NUMERICAL-SIMULATION OF SOLIDIFICATION BY AN IMPROVED EXPLICIT SCHEME

摘要
EXPLICIT is a programme which simulates the solidification of alloys in three-dimensional general geometries. The mathematical model used to solve heat equation is based upon an enthalpy formulation. The algorithm used is based upon a finite element discretization in space and an explicit Euler finite difference scheme in time improved by the introduction of super-time-steps. Vectorization and parallelization of the code are discussed. Numerical results are presented and compared to experimental data measured for aluminium-silicon castings in a cylindrical mould and to a numerical simulation in 3D axisymmetric geometry. First calculations on a three-dimensional casting called Hubert-piece are performed.
