GROUND-STATE DISORDER IN THE SPIN-1/2 KAGOME HEISENBERG-ANTIFERROMAGNET

摘要
We search for broken symmetry in the ground state of the spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet on a kagome lattice. Specifically, we calculate magnetic, spin-Peierls, spin-nematic, and chiral correlation functions in the ground states of clusters of 9, 12, 15, and 18 sites. All four correlation functions fall rapidly with distance. An analysis of their system-size dependence suggests that the ground state of this model is probably a spin liquid with the full symmetry of the Hamiltonian.
