LOW-TEMPERATURE PREPARATION OF A LITHIUM-COBALT SPINEL (LI0.35CO2.65O4) BY THERMAL-DECOMPOSITION OF COOOH IN A LINO3 MELT

摘要
The thermal decomposition of CoOOH in a LiNO3 melt is a new route for the preparation of a mixed lithium-cobalt spinel oxide with the composition Lio.35Co2.65O4. TEM-, DTA- and DTG-measurements are consistent with a topotactic model of CoOOH decomposition preceded by partial ion-exchange between H+ from CoOOH and Li+ from the LiNO3 melt. It has been shown that the lithium ions are distributed nearly statistically in the tetrahedral and octahedral sites of the spinel lattice.
