摘要
Well known features of the photographic emulsion are compiled. Speed, granularity and contrast transfer are discussed with respect to the utilization of photographic material as a measuring instrument. Concepts and methods, such as auto-correlation and Fourier transform, which are familiar to electron microscopists are applied to the assessment of the rendition of small details in radiation-sensitive objects.
