摘要：

The problems of defining building blocks for existing languages and tools are addressed, and their successful application to real projects is described. The characteristics of building blocks are discussed. The building blocks are implemented in BB/LS and in an associated language processor implemented on the base of the macro facility of the PL/S systems-programming language. The building-block reuse technology is being used to set up a library of building blocks primarily for reuse in systems programming. The effect of building block technology on software development is examined, and practical experiences in its use are described.
