OPTICAL-ABSORPTION SPECTRA OF HEAT-TREATED DECACYCLENE DURING MESOPHASE FORMATION

摘要
Absorption (UV, visible, near-IR, and IR) spectra were measured for heat-treated decacyclene during mesophase formation. After heat treatment at 500°C, the development of absorption bands at 600-650 nm with the tails extending to the near-IR region suggests the formation of large polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Molecular orbital calculations were used to show that the absorption spectra were consistent with a carbonization scheme based on zethrene oligomers. © 1990.
