ELECTROCHEMICAL-BEHAVIOR OF HYDRAZINE AND FORMIC-ACID ON PLATINIZED PAN-BASED CARBON-FIBERS

摘要
The electrochemical behaviour of H2NNH2; and HCOOH on platinized carbon fibres is studied. Platinum deposition was performed by controlled current and controlled potential electrolysis as well as with galvanostatic pulses and after reduction of the adsorbed chloroplatinate at the fibres. On electrodes with a low surface concentration of Pt, H2NNH2; is oxidized at 1.15 V/RHE, while HCOOH shows no oxidation wave. For high surface concentrations of Pt, the oxidation of both reactants takes place at potentials close to that on bulk Pt. When electrodes with a high Pt surface concentration are subjected to high frequency repetitive potential sweeps, H2NNH2 is oxidized at 1.15 V, whereas HCOOH shows similar behaviour to that on an oriented (111) surface. © 1990.
