摘要
By the aid of recent opto-electronic techniques the authors have developed a measuring instrument on the progress manner of lightning flashes, named ALPS (Automatic Lightning Discharge Progressing Feature Observation System). The progress velocities of stepped leaders for lightnings in winter seasons were observed using the ALPS in the coastal area of the Japan Sea. The progress velocity of the individual step of a stepped leader was measured for the first time as well as the total progress velocity of a stepped leader. © 1990 IEEE
