Experiments are reported in which the populations of nuclear Zeeman and methyl tunnelling levels are manipulated by driving selected transitions in a sequence. Saturation bottlenecks can be avoided and the intensity of spectral lines enhanced by driving two transitions alternately and repetitively. The results are explained in terms of a two-temperature model. The method allows transitions between tunnelling levels that do not change the magnetization to be observed.
