摘要
The rotating aluminum cylinder electrode has been used to study the kinetics of aluminum dissolution in different hydroxide ion concentrations, aluminate concentrations and temperatures. This study indicated that the effects of KOH concentration, aluminate concentration and temperature on the polarization characteristics are significant, but that there is no effect due to mass transfer. A unity reaction order with respect to hydroxide ion is found for the aluminum dissolution at 60-degrees-C. The extraordinarily high Tafel slope found in this work is consistent with the presence of a film on the aluminum electrode surface.
