POTASSIUM OXYGEN INTERACTIONS ON A RU(001) SURFACE

摘要
The interaction of potassium with oxygen has been examined using synchrotron-based photoemission and NEXAFS, thermal desorption; work function measurements, and isotope exchange. Potassium coverages on Ru(001) surface ranging from monolayer to multilayer were investigated. Oxygen coadsorbed with potassium at 80 K forms a potassium-dioxygen complex, where both peroxide and superoxide ions were identified. The complex has high thermal stability on the Ru(001) surface, decomposing and desorbing at T > 900 K.
