TEMPERATURE-VARIATION OF ASYMMETRY IN POTENTIAL BARRIERS IN PYRIDINIUM NITRATE

摘要
The proton NMR second moment and the spin lattice relaxation time are studied for polycrystalline pyridinium nitrate over a wide range of temperature. The cation reorientation is described by a model of three-well potential with two activation energies. The asymmetry parameter DELTA is found to decrease linearly with increasing temperature. The symmetrization of the barriers seems to trigger the solid liquid phase transition.
