摘要
Inelastic neutron scattering has been employed to study the crystalline-electric-field (CEF) excitations of Sm3+ ions in SmBa2Cu3O7. We have been able to assign the energetic ordering of all the three and four CEF states in the ground-state and first-excited J multiplets H5/26 and H7/26, respectively. A set of CEF parameters was derived which excellently describes the observed energy spectra. © 1995 The American Physical Society.
