摘要
The composition of molten starting materials at which superconducting single crystals of the Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O system (Tc = 85 K) first crystallize has been investigated. After several growth experiments by a slow cooling method, the composition 33 at% BiO1.5, 24 at% SrO, 18 at% CaO, 25 at% CuO was chosen as the starting molten composition. Although small in size, the crystals grown by the slow cooling method are of good quality. These crystals are found to be grown by the top-seeded solution growth (TSSG) method as crystal aggregates composed of filmy crystals. To interprete the crystallization process from the Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O solution, a tentative pseudobinary phase relation between Bi2(Sr,Ca)O4 and (Sr,Ca)CuO2 is proposed. © 1990.
